Superkop Espresso Baskets and ESE Pods

(In Partnership with IMS)

The quest for the perfect cup of espresso often leads to the exploration of innovative tools… With a filter basket, you take your espresso to the next level and get the most out of your espresso tool. Recently, we had the opportunity to test several IMS baskets with the Superkop tool, and we’re excited to share our experience with you. IMS offers numerous options with different shapes, capacities, perforation area and distribution of the holes. All the ones selected for Superkop but Ims also has others type like convex bottom, providing an even higher extraction with more distinct flavor notes.

Filter baskets allow for a much faster flow, enabling baristas to grind finer and extract higher than ever before, ensuring the entire puck is extracted equally effectively. It’s a really useful tool for the home barista to have.

IMS even offers a basket for an ESE pod for the Superkop tool. Read more…

All-In-One: For Espresso by IMS

The Italian coffee equipment brand Espresso & Brewing Lab (E&B Lab) has launched the All-In-One filter basket for espresso machine portafilters. This basket is designed for making espresso extractions, filter-style coffee, tea, or cascara brews on any flow- or pressure-controllable espresso machine with a 58-millimeter portafilter. It is available in heights of 22, 25, and 28 millimeters to accommodate different doses for different drink styles. The ridgeless stainless steel basket features a fine mesh interior screen supported by a thicker exterior screen at its base.

What sets the All-In-One filter apart is its unparalleled versatility. Whether you’re craving a bold espresso, a smooth café crème, or a delicate tea infusion, this filter has you covered. Its patented perforation system and precision-engineered membrane ensure consistent extraction and unparalleled flavor retention across a range of brewing methods.

The All-In-One filter allows experimentation with different pressure profiles, enabling you to customize extraction based on your taste preferences. Whether you prefer a darker, medium, or lighter roast, this filter easily adapts to different coffee profiles. The All-In-One is intended for use on machines capable of slow, low-pressure infusions, such as the Superkop tool.

The BIG BANG Basket by IMS

The IMS Big Bang Espresso Filter Basket works for a more uniform extraction, resulting in a balanced and flavorful espresso shot to elevate your home barista experience. The IMS Big Bang Espresso Filter Basket is designed to revolutionize the coffee extraction process, promising a more consistent and flavorful cup of espresso. The design features and materials used in this filter basket aim to address common issues faced by espresso enthusiasts, such as uneven extraction and channeling.

The new IMS hole pattern has an incremental distance between holes from 1.5 mm increasing to the edge. The main characteristic is the emphasis on the sweetness note of your coffee. The extraction is very uniform, enhancing the sweetness and reducing the acidity. The Big Bang filters are perfect for basic coffee, like a Brazilian, as they make the cup very balanced.

Single Basket, Double, or Even Triple Baskets!

I don’t think anyone is doing single shots anymore, but the single basket is still available for Superkop. Most people are making double shots with a broad range of recipes. If someone wants a single shot, it would still be a double shot, but they would split the shot using the double spout portafilter or use the Naked Portafilter. The double shot basket is standard in the Superkop portafilter. I’ve even seen triple baskets for super heavy shots.

ESE Pods for Superkop with IMS Basket

Forget about ground coffee crumbs on the floor or table and picking coffee grounds from your machine’s handles. This is a great choice for those who want to conveniently and quickly make delicious coffee, now also with Superkop and the IMS basket. (5 slagen…)

An E.S.E (Easy Serving Espresso) pod is a small, compressed coffee pad containing about seven grams of ground coffee. The pad is designed for espresso machines that can accommodate these pods and use them under pressure. ESE pods were invented by Illy with the idea of providing an easy solution for making a delicious espresso at home. They are incredibly easy to use and ready in no time.

One of the advantages is that you can brew an espresso very quickly. In fact, the taste of the espresso is truly commendable. This is due to the quality of the pods. Of course, the intensity varies with each ESE pod, so pay close attention to the roast of the beans. The longer the beans are roasted, the darker they become. The darker the roast, the stronger the flavor. Also, check the expiration date, as it can vary quite a bit!

We definitely suggest our electropolished filter for regular blend, medium to full body and balanced cup.

Example recipe:

(50%Brazil, 50% costa rica)

Easy Blend

18gr in, 40gr out water at 93°

For lighter roasted coffee we suggest our All In One Filter, silky and medium body, high fruitiness

Example recipe:

Ethiopia Kayon mountain farm

18.5gr in, 37gr out water at 94°

Embrace the ease and joy of making espresso with ESE pods and elevate your coffee game with the Superkop and IMS basket.

Happy brewing!
