Simple engineering. Reliable results.

Superkop is made from a small number of carefully chosen parts. Each one is designed to be durable, repairable, and easy to understand, so the machine can live with you for a long time. The Superkop uses a direct lever-to-piston system. When you pull the lever, you push the piston down through hot water and coffee grounds. A gas spring gently returns the lever when you're done.

That's it. No electronics to fail. No sensors to calibrate. Just physics.

The transparent water chamber isn't just for looks, it lets you watch the entire process unfold. See the water level drop. Watch the pressure build. It's espresso, demystified.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

Do I need any other equipment?

Yes, you'll need a kettle to heat water, a grinder for fresh coffee, and a tamper to compress the grounds. We recommend a quality burr grinder; pre-ground coffee won't give you the same results.

What grind size should I use?

Fine, like you would for any espresso machine. The exact setting depends on your grinder and beans. Start fine and adjust based on how your shot tastes and flows.

How hot should the water be?

Most people find 90–96°C works well. Experiment to find what tastes best to you, that's part of the ritual.

How do I clean it?

Rinse the portafilter and basket after each use. Wipe down the machine. Once a week, run clean water through the chamber. That's it. No descaling, no backflushing, no group head soaks.

What's the maintenance like?

Replace the seals every few years, depending on use. The gas spring may need replacing after several years of heavy use. All parts are available and easy to swap yourself.
