Back to the essence

Espresso wasn't always made with buttons and screens. There was a time when you felt the pressure in your hands, watched the extraction unfold, and had complete control over the result.

That simplicity and the ritual that came with it has slowly disappeared.

Geert decided to go back to the basics:

  • No electricity
  • As few parts as possible
  • Full control by hand
  • Built to last decades, not years

Not faster or smarter. Just more intentional.

From sketch to obsession

What began as a sketch became years of development.

Working alongside engineers and designers, Geert reconsidered every component. Prototypes were built, tested, refined and often scrapped entirely.

The real challenge wasn't complexity. It was simplicity.

Developing a fully mechanical system that:

  • Delivers consistent pressure
  • Is safe and intuitive to use
  • Produces café-quality espresso every time

What looks effortless took years to perfect. True simplicity always does.

Form follows function

The final form of Superkop is the result of that long process. No extra decoration or unnecessary elements. Everything you see serves a purpose.

Materials were chosen deliberately:

  • Stainless steel for durability and hygiene
  • Aluminum for precision and heat management
  • Mechanical components that can be serviced and repaired

Superkop is designed to keep working, not to be replaced after a few years.

A moment that confirmed everything

After years of testing and refinement, Superkop launched on Kickstarter in 2021.

Within weeks, coffee lovers from around the world backed the project. That response confirmed what the team already believed: this wasn't just an experiment, it was a genuine alternative to the status quo.

People were ready for something different.
